Building immersive systems that help people resume function after disruption Rehabilitation · Learning · Re-entry into daily life
I’m Ziyi Lei (Eby). I design for moments when restarting is harder than continuing. Not because people lack motivation, but because real-world systems often make re-entry feel costly— psychologically, socially, and physically.
My work focuses on immersive and embodied interaction as a way to lower that cost. By engaging the body, attention, and perception, I design experiences that help people regain orientation and agency before confidence fully returns.
I’m particularly interested in how this approach could support language and motor recovery after stroke—where restarting is not only difficult, but deeply tied to dignity, identity, and the ability to rejoin everyday life.
